Opportunity L.A. also partners with the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS), which was launched in 2022 by the State of California with a clear mission: to help jumpstart college savings for children statewide by awarding scholarship accounts to youth across the state.
CalKIDS automatically offers children born in California on or after July 1st, 2022, and eligible public school students in California, a CalKIDS Scholarship Account, along with other potential financial incentives.
Parents can visit calkids.org to learn more about the program and check their child’s eligibility. To check eligibility, parents of current public school students will need their unique SSID Number, received from their school. Parents of newborns will need their Local Registration Number, which can be found on their child’s birth certificate.
